Most feeding problems we hear about start the same way: the scoop. A "scoop-ish" portion twice a day can drift by 20–30% without anyone noticing, and over months that's the difference between a healthy weight and a chunky pet.
Start with the label, confirm with your vet
Every kibble bag lists a feeding guide by body weight. Treat it as a starting point, not gospel — the right amount depends on your pet's age, activity, and whether they're meant to lose, hold, or gain weight. Your vet can give you a target in grams per day; that one number makes everything else easy.
Split it into meals
Cats generally do better with several small meals — their stomachs are small and boredom-grazing is real. Most adult dogs do well with two meals. Whatever you choose, keep the total daily amount fixed and split it consistently.
Measure once, then automate
Weigh a day's food on a kitchen scale once so you know what it actually looks like. Then take the guesswork out of the daily routine: our 4L Automatic Feeder dispenses the exact portion you set, at the times you set, every single day — including portions with a decimal point, so "38 g twice a day" means 38 g, not "about a scoop."
Watch the pet, not just the bowl
Re-check weight every few weeks. Ribs easy to feel, visible waist from above — good. Adjust the daily total in small steps (5–10%) rather than big swings, and loop in your vet if appetite changes suddenly.
